Hosoma Chikako

Aktualisiert: 7. Feb. 2020

皆さん, こんにちは! Minasan, konnichiwa! Hello everyone! 🌸

Hosoma Chikako is an artist who participated in the Art Rainbow project last year. In October I met her again at the exhibition opening of this year's Art Rainbow project and she invited me to her current exhibition in Kobe.

That's the main reason for my visit here. I followed this invitation today and went to her exhibition "The Inside - The Outside" at the gallery Shimada.👀

Regarding that she writes:

For me, consciousness is “old”.

The lines that consciousness has revealed in advance are old for the hands.

My hands are always in trouble because I can't catch up with something.

What I am trying to catch up is not consciousness.

Substances flow out of the conscious area.

I just keep moving my hand against something I can't catch up with.

When your consciousness catches up with your hand, your hand stops.

What's special about her art are her live performances. I was able to experience these last year at the Kunsthalle Rostock. Unfortunately, I missed the performance of the current exhibition, but I can give you an insight from a past one:

I talked to her for a while and she told me about her stay on Faroe Islands, where she discovered the chain dance which she made a part of her current live performance. 🎨

The chain dance is a medieval ring dance and a cultural specialty. Today it is known as Faroese chain dance. The symbolic meaning of the dance is the circle of people with different kinds of life who come together and meet on a common basis.

Since I had no exact plan where to go after I visited the gallery, I just walked along the streets. I will give you some impressions:

At the end, I landed at the Venus Bridge. From up there you have a great view over the city.

However, since it looked like a thunderstorm would come soon I made my way back to the hostel. Just before I got there, I discovered the Minatogawa Shrine, which is really beautiful!

As I wrote yesterday, I wanted to spend my evening eating pizza on the roof, but unfortunately, the rain ruined my plans. I got the pizza anyway and ate in the company of a Thai couple. 😋

The two are here because of the Kobe Marathon, which took place yesterday. It ran under the motto "Thanks and Friendship" and was a reminder of the great Hanshin-Awaji earthquake from 25 years ago. I have not known anything about it, but soon there will be a marathon in Kyoto as well. It is at 16.02.2020 and maybe I will be able to write a bit about it. 😉

次回まで! Jikai made! See you next time. 💕
