Places I discovered

皆さん, こんにちは! Minasan, konnichiwa! Hello everyone! 🌸

During my free time, I went on a few explorations. What I've seen and discovered so far, I'll show you now. 😉

On Tuesday I went to Arashiyama. This is located in the west of Kyoto and some distance from the center, so I took the bus about an hour to get there. However, with Arashiyama being one of Kyoto's main neighborhoods, I was not the only one who came up with the idea of going there. My destinations, the bamboo and kimono forest, were so overflowed with tourists and school classes and the crowds soon wipe my mood. Besides, the strong sun and the warmth made me feel limp so that I would have preferred to go back to sleep. However, having taken an hour's drive to get here, I did not want to leave Arashiyama after two hours. So I made my way to the Togetsu-Kyo Bridge to rest a little. As I sat there, I became aware of a path that ran along the local river.

I decided to follow it and that was the best decision I could make that day.

The longer I walked down the path, the fewer people I encountered, and at some point, I ran alone along the river. The road was exhausting, as it went up a mountain. At half of the height, I came across the Daihikaku Senkoji Temple, probably the most peaceful place I have ever visited.

The remote location and the way there seems to have a deterrent effect, at least there were only two other people up there except me. The way is worth it because, at this initially inconspicuous place, you can spend more time than expected. From there you have a good view of the surrounding mountains and the skyline of the city. It is also a suitable place to rest and to be surrounded by nature. A place to relax and forget everyday life. A place where I will definitely return to.

On my first day off, a week ago, I first got an overview of the city by going to the Kyoto Tower. From a height of 100 meters, you have a good view of the city. With a total of 131 meters, this tower is the largest building in Kyoto. The city is otherwise known for its many temples and shrines and I have visited some of them. My favorite so far: the Fushimi Inari shrine. To the grounds of this shrine also belongs a mountain and through its forest lead various paths, which are characterized by innumerable red Torii. Many tourists gather near the shrine and countless photo sessions are announced. However, the higher you go, the more empty and quiet it becomes and you can enjoy walking.

These were a few of the places I have visited so far but one thing I can assure you is that more will follow. 🎉

次回まで! Jikai made! See you next time. 💕
