皆さん, こんにちは! Minasan, konnichiwa! Hello everyone! 🌸
Now is the time that I was already looking forward to since I arrived: the time of the cherry blossom. Due to the Corona crisis, it was a comparatively deserted cherry blossom time. But despite the virus, I didn't just let this time pass by. And since the many tourists were missing, it was not difficult to avoid large crowds and I could take a few walks. Now I will tell you which places I went to. 😉 My first stop was the Philosopherspath. This is a must at this time of the year because there you can take a long walk under cherry blossoms while passing many beautiful photo spots.
The following week I went to Arashiyama. I really like this area, which is why I didn't want to miss a trip there during the cherry blossom season. Already at the sight of the Togetsu bridge one noticed: it is empty. Usually, people crowd there, but now the opposite was the case. Once on the other side of the river, you can see a few cherry trees, but when I walked along the river, they were missing. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the walk and especially my break on the little "beach" there! That moment there felt like peace. While I was sitting, I saw the Sagano Scenic train pass by on the other side, which luckily reminded me that I wanted to take a ride with it someday. And now was a good time to tick off this item on my TO-Do list. Said and done. The trip along the Katsura River offered a wonderful view, and the "tunnel" made of cherry blossoms was the highlight! Here are a few videos to give you an insight:
Another place I have visited is the Keage Incline. There were comparatively many people here and unfortunately it was a very cloudy day, which is why you couldn't see the cherry blossoms beautifully.
That was a shame, but on the way back I had a much bigger misfortune: I left my Polaroid camera on the bus. However, this event also had something good. A friend called the lost property office and indeed: A camera was found! Now I only had to bring my passport to the office, which is in the Kitaoji station, and I was holding my camera in my hands again. 🎉 It was a sunny day, so I decided to walk a bit towards home before getting on the bus. So I went along the Kamo River, which was not far from the train station. The route there was nice! Lots of cherry trees and they have grown in a way that made it possible to walk under them. For a trip to the Kamo River during the Sakura period, I can recommend this route!
One thing that is usually very popular at this time, but was little seen this year, was sakura picnics. I only met with a few friends for nightly hanami. Around 1 AM we went to a place nearby with a few drinks. It wasn't a special place, but the time we spent there was really nice!
Now the cherry blossom is almost over, but let's hope that the corona situation will resolve quickly and that more people will be able to admire the splendor of the cherry blossoms next year!
次回まで! Jikai made! See you next time! 💕
