Trampen in Japan

Aktualisiert: 7. Feb. 2020

皆さん, こんにちは! Minasan, konnichiwa! Hello everyone! 🌸

Last night I met Felix at the Hostel. He is also from Germany and right now he is doing a trip around the world. It turned out that he wanted to go to Himeji the next day to see the famous castle there.

Since a friend recommended to me to visit the Himeji-Castle while I am in Kobe, I decided to accompany Felix. We made an appointment for the next day at 10:00 clock to start our trip.

As it turned out, Felix had planned to tramp to Himeji. At first, I was not really convinced of that idea because I had to be back in Kyoto at 6:00 pm so I had a bit of time pressure, but I still agreed to it. It was exciting and kind of strange, as I've never done it before, but at some point, it's always the first time, right? 🙈

It took about 1 1/2 hours until the first car stopped, but unfortunately, the driver didn't want to take us with him. He just wanted to tell us a better location, where we should try it. That was a disappointment, but after trying it a bit further, near a Mc Donalds, we were more successful. After the first car had taken us around 10 kilometers, we had a run. After we changed the car 3 times and drove a total of 2 hours (thank you to everyone who took us with them: どもう ありがとうございます!) we arrived at our destination: Himeji Castle (姫 路 城). 🎉

The castle, due to its white appearance, is considered the most spectacular castle in Japan. It is not only a national treasure but also a world heritage. Unlike many other Japanese castles, it has never been destroyed by war, earthquake or fire and has thus retained its original shape. However, it has recently been renovated for several years to keep it accessible for the public.

Unfortunately, I had to keep my visit to the castle pretty short, as I had to go back to Kyoto and through our long journey, my time was running out. Luckily, I was on the train in time and at 6:00 pm in the gallery, where we had the opening party of the "Japan-Korea Art Exchange" exhibition.

This exhibition takes place annually in Gongju (South Korea), Tokyo or Kyoto and this year it is already the 17th round of the exchange project.

After the official end, we went on in a smaller round to eat Okonomiyaki and Yakisoba. Mhh, that was delicious. 😋

But there were also a few little things, such as chicken bones and jellyfish. I tried everything, but if I'm honest: I prefer the main courses. 🙈

次回まで! Jikai made! See you next time. 💕
